What a month of sailing and activities!

I can’t believe we are half way through November already, we seem to be non stop sailing and fun at the moment. Two new Head instructors have joined us Andrew Lawrie at St George and Ryan Spring at Manly.. More details to come about these guys!

Here’s a quick summary of what we have been up to!
school holiday Sailing fun ManlySchool Holiday Camps: A total of 25 kids were taught during the second week of the school holidays – this was a great turn out, and despite the weather we had a tremendous amount of fun.  Going forwards we have changed the format of the School holidays to a 4 day course instead of a 3 day or 5 day . The feedback was really good and we have taken on board what was said and will build on this for the future.

Sydney Sailing School lessonsDiscover Sailing Day at St George SC

Following the success of our Try Sailing Day in September, Sydney Sailing School was keen to support Yachting Australia’s National Discover Sailing Day, an initiative whereby many of the clubs around the country open their doors  and allow members of the public to go sailing for  free. We took this pretty seriously and had a great turn out with over 80 people getting out on the water. For those of you that came I trust you had fun. The support from the volunteer club members should not be understated. it was really cool! At some stages during the day we had 9 boats on the water and a queue of people waiting to go out!

This has been a resounding success. Parents and their kids come down for a play in our O’pen Bics – we’ve been fortunate that we’ve had great weather. 8am until 10am on Sunday mornings. If you want a giggle come down and watch these families having fun.

What’s coming up?

Adult Sailing Lessons:

Over the past couple of months we have had a steady trickle of adults learning to sail at St George without doing any marketing. We are very pleased that we now have adult 2 day sailing courses every weekend alternating level 1 and Level 2 with a level 3 and advanced sailing thrown in once every month or two months. This is an exciting development as it will allow you to plan your time much better. keep an eye on the adult sailing lessons page of the website. We need a minimum of two people to run a course

Blog Posts: In case you missed them we have a few blog posts from the last month

Sailing on Facebook. Facebook has been one of our most effective  marketing tools – but it takes a lot of work and trust. This blog post refers to some of the challenges the sport faces given its committee structure. Like the page and get stuff like this:
